This is our weekend. This is our year.

February 27, 2015 by MsCheevious

This is our weekend. This is our year.

Book written and released? CHECK

Book reached #1? CHECK

Book won an award in a big Book Festival? CHECK

Book signing parties have begun to take shape, the first of which happens tomorrow? CHECK

THESE ARE ALL GREAT THINGS, PEOPLE.

I should be friggin’ DANCING.  We should ALL be dancing.

But we’re not. Well, I’m not.

Let’s just say I’ve had better weeks. I won’t go into details because it’s just the same ole’ stuff everyone struggles with, like health insurance, or various other toils our lives get sTaCKeD with, devouring every ounce of our happy places (or our time).

I’m going to end this post quickly and succinctly with what I told Nuggie yesterday:

“I’m tabling this stuff until after my book-signing, even though I have every reason to be upset about these things, because DANGIT! THIS IS MY WEEKEND. THIS IS MY YEAR.”

Am I right?

As for you… I know that life can get in the way of our mantra to “enjoy every moment,” but whatever shit you may be dealing with, realize that your problems are not always as bad as the next person’s. There is always someone out there who would gladly trade places with you. You can take solace knowing some day in the future you and I will BOTH be through this tunnel, and peeking into the light.

Because THIS IS OUR WEEKEND.  THIS IS OUR YEAR.

Love you people!

Ms. Cheevious is the alter-ego of Lisa Jey Davis (former publicist, and television talent manager, current award-winning writer & author, & health and fitness pro). Though Ms. Cheevious has become known for humor via the blog and social media, offering a lighter and brighter look at life… the blog was originally a precursor to Lisa Jey's long overdue book "Ms. Cheevious in Hollywood" which offers a fabulous, funny peek into what really goes on behind the scenes in Hollywood… a Hollywood with Lisa Jey and her funny “serendipities” in it. Think Lucille Ball meets Chelsea Handler meets the girl next door (with a little chocolate and vodka). It depicts with hilarity the innocent mistakes Lisa Jey made when launched back into the big, bad single jungle, as an unassuming single-mother in the City of Angels. It’s also about the beautiful, interesting life she led while her loving, incredible sons kept her grounded and sane amid fantastic events, new friends, parties and field trips. It also shows the turmoil and heartbreak that comes with dating and single mom life. All blog content © 2015 Ms. Cheevious aka Lisa Jey Davis

I totally empathize with this. Life completely gets in the way of my happiness at times, which is such an odd thing to say. I think we need to compartmentalize things – be happy in specific areas and allow ourselves to feel good and then deal with other issues other ways. Celebrate our successes when they happen so they’re recognized. The rest of our lives is just so much noise, so when you want to celebrate, do it.

That is so true – Somebody else’s problems are worse than yours. Sometimes one must just take the bull by the horns and deal with the shit being pushed around. Good luck – and yes, this is your time – do with it as you see fit.

I think of those things as fiery darts being flung at me to take away my happiness. I picture them being turned away and being stuck in whoever is flinging them! Return To Sender!!

Your posts always leave me with a smile. And yes, you’re right… I wouldn’t trade my problems for someone else’s.

This takes me back to an advertising slogan for an abrasives company that I encountered when I had just started out as an engineer, back in the dark ages. “Illegitimus non carborundum.” It’s not great Latin, but the sentiment is the same: Don’t let them grind you down. That’s the “G” rated translation.

Love your optimism in the face of life Lisa Jey – it’s so easy to get caught up in our crap, and forget the positives. Your optimism encourages and challenges me, thanks.
