Hot Bikini Chicks = Top Celebrities

So, M.C. Nugget and I attended an event this week — the “Bikini Candy Tour Launch Party Benefiting Willie Gault’s AFL Foundation” (that’s Athlete’s For Life – in case you didn’t know).

The event was promoted as this “premiere star-studded event,” with a confirmed guestlist that read as such:

Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Lamar Odom, Jamal Brown, Ashton Kutcher, Wilmer Valderama, Tyrese, Avant, Paris Hilton, Nicole Scherzinger, Omar Gooding, Ron Artest, Shannon Brown, Jordan Farmar, Shemar Moore, Molly Shea, Brian White, Carl Anthony Payne II, Kevin Garnet, Troy Hudson, Terrell Owens, Rashad McCants, Mario Barrett, Chris Hope. Gabe Pruitt, DJ Strawberry, Ray J, Angela Simmons, Vanessa Simmons, Teddy Riley, John Legend, Travis Barker, Marlon Wayans and many more!

Let me just say that the only people on the list above that made an appearance were Omar Gooding and Molly Shea.  At least from what I could tell.  But the event did bring in a few surprise extras like Oscar winner, Jaime Foxx and his pal, Duane Martin.

I must admit, when I first read the guest list, I wasn’t impressed.  Not because the list itself wasn’t impressive, but because this happens all the time in Hollywood.  Event promoters often pad their “celebrity” attendance list with those they have merely extended invites to (like Ashton Kutcher or Paris Hilton).  And in the case of charities, they’ll often get celebrities to agree to “support” the cause, or at the very least, lend their name to the event.  But rarely do these a-listers actually show.

So, although Athletes for Life is a worthy cause, mentoring kids to live a healthy lifestyle, I had to wonder what it was that made people like Jaime Foxx and even my own man, M.C. Nugget venture out that night.

Well, kiddos, I’ve got the answer.

It was a BIKINI CONTEST people!  Helloooooo!  And these girls were not just anyone off the street competing to win whatever prize was in store.  They were sexy, young models!

As M.C. and I sat there, perplexed, we surmised what was transpiring before our eyes that evening – and of course enjoying every single minute.  We decided right then and there, we were changing career paths.  Yes, M.C. and I are going into the event business (well, okay, so I already do events for peeps).  But the formula was just too simple:   Find a charity to support, get celebrities on board to lend their names, then bring in the scantilly clad hot chicks!

Why not?

Here are some of the pics from that night – and guess what?  I even got photographed!  Oh yeah… I’m somebody now.  Ha ha!

That’s it for now folks.  Check out the Athelet’s For Life website!  It truly is a good cause!
Tonight we are off to The Kress nightclub in Hollywood for a birthday party for a world famous publicist to the stars.  The theme is “Be the Paparazzi” and no one is admitted without a camera.  We’re suppose to dress to impress.  Looking forward to that.  Fun stuff, eh?  I’ll fill you in later. Stay tuned next week.
In the meantime, enjoy your spring weekend, wherever you are, and no matter the weather!  Have a fabulous one my lovelies!
Love you people!  Mmmmmppphhhuuuuhhhhhh!

On Getting Freebies

April 13, 2010 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

Are you kidding? Lemme just say that Ms. Cheevious is all about the freebies lately, kiddos.

When it seems that all people can talk about is “doom and gloom” incessantly, at some point ya’ gotta cry “UNCLE!” and run – don’t walk – for the nearest free thing that crosses your path!

I’m not kidding folks – at least not about the plethora of free stuff out there.  In this day and age, with taxes climbing, salaries stalled or disappearing, and people tightening their purse strings to the point of asphyxiation, any leg up is a welcome friend.

So, I’ve provided a list of some places that have dished out the free stuff recently.  Why, you ask?  Perhaps you are thinking, “WHY MS. Cheevious?   Why must you TAUNT us with the freebies that cross your path?  These things do not happen in (insert your city/town here)!”  Well, I don’t buy it (ha ha – no kidding).  You too can generate and be aware of FREE STUFF in your own backyard.  But you gotta look for it and use a little ingenuity.  You also have to be willing to GET OUT THERE.  This, for some of you, is no small task.  I know, I know.  Sometimes it’s just easier to stay home and watch television and get comfortable.  The idea of getting somewhat dressed up to get out there and indulge in a few free things at times can be a bit exhausting!  Well, boo hoo hoo.  Cry me a river.  If you want the free stuff, you have to put in a little effort people!  So here you go:

  • MUSEUMS, GALLERIES, OTHER MISCELLANEOUS LOCALES:  The surf shop down the block from M.C.’s house in Santa Monica set up a pickup truck with a barbecue grill on the back, and started handing out free hotdogs and hamburgers one Saturday.  It didn’t take long for a line to form down the block, and for their shop to get all kinds of traffic as a result.  I’ve also been to the mall before when other places were giving away pizza, free samples of yummy pretzels, or what-have-you.  We will never starve in this great nation.  THAT is for sure.

Also – Galleries and museums often provide free wine, champagne and hors d’oeuvres when they open a new exhibition or promote a new artist.  Get on their list for their upcoming events! I’ve even attended a red carpet movie screening at a nearby gallery where they had exquisite appetizers and desserts as well as an open bar.

  • MOVIE THEATRES. Speaking of movie screenings – check with your local theatres (or those in the biggest city nearby) to learn of any screenings, premieres, or other types of events.  Often movie theatres will hold events you wouldn’t expect, and they’ll welcome you as well.
  • GIFTING SUITES. Okay, so these are a rarety only afforded those celebrities and their friends or representatives that live near Hollywood/Beverly Hills and Manhattan (NY).  But I tell you, we were given face products, jeans, shirts, dresses, gourmet anti-oxidant dark chocolates, cigars, spa/massage certificates, jewelry, liqueours and more.  Actually, the amount of face products was astounding – and all were very exclusive – famous skin care lines. And not too soon, I must say.  I’d JUST scraped the bottom of the barrel on some of my daily regemen, and was in no position to replace it, when I was given a mountain of products I could use.  Life is good, I tell ya.
  • PUBLICITY. So, not everyone wants this, but all you need to do these days is put together a youtube video, and post it – share it ad nauseum on every other social media site (twitter, Facebook, digg, linkedin and more).  Also, show up where photographers are present to shoot an event or other somewhat “famous” person, and ask to be photographed (they love that)… then follow that up by asking where the photos might appear (so you can find them, and post them – ad nauseum – on every social media website) – and VOILA!  You’ve just gotten some free publicity!
  • CRAIGSLIST – I know.  Why is craigslist on here?  Thanks for asking.  Because they allow me to post free ads for the rental of my condo (which has become inevitable at this moment in my life) and as a result of those ads, I will now be shacking up at M.C.’s beach pad for the summer.  Yep I rented my place for the summer!  Nothing better than FREE MORTGAGE – right?
  • And now… drum roll… for the Mack-Daddy of All Free Things:  FREE ADVICE. M.C. and I were walking along the beach in Santa Monica one Sunday, when low and behold, we saw a friend of ours (and movie maker) Emmett Loverde and his brother Paul.  They set up a card table and four chairs with a couple of little table tent signs that read “FREE ADVICE.”  This was just TOO hysterical!  We decided to sit down and give it a whirl.  I asked Emmett for advice as to what to do on a lovely Sunday afternoon on the strand in Santa Monica, and he threw this little golden nugget my way:  “Set up a free advice table.”  He assured me it was a fantastic way to meet new people, and some of them were hot, gorgeous people who may never come and sit down with you otherwise, except for the novelty of obtaining something free – and advice at that!
  • Free Advice Santa Monica, CA
    Only in Santa Monica, CA

So, there you have it people.  Freebies galore.  Go get ’em!

And, as you may have surmised, from my lack of postings lately, my blog has become a struggle to get out lately.  I promise to be more timely and fastidious from now on.  Stay tuned next time for more on the delightful, delectable, celebrity-filled happenings in sunny, beautiful California – through my eyes, of course!

Have an incredibly FREE week everyone!

Love you people!  Mmmmmmmppphhhhuuuuhhh!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

Here Shrimpy Shrimpy Shrimpy…

March 18, 2010 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

Need I say more? If you’ve read my blog for some time, you’ll know what this is all about. I once wrote about the differences between steak and – ehem – shrimp.  But that part is only important if you remember it.  If not, this is just hilarious anyway…

Many of you have seen the Panda Express commercials – the ones where the two Pandas repeatedly try to steal Panda Express food? Well, there is a new one of them hunting for shrimp in the deep blue sea.  One of that commercial’s incarnations can be found on youtube.com by searching “Panda Express Shrimp Commercial”.

I tried to find the one with BOTH pandas, but alas, it’s nowhere to be found as of yet on the internet.

Since MC Nugget (my man, for you newbies) and I are KNOWN for hunting for the best, yummiest SHRIMP, I figured this one was a shoe in.

"Heeere Shrimpy, Shrimpy, Shrimpy...."

Too funny.

I’m working my way up to Redding, CA this weekend to visit with Maven, her hubby and son.  They just recently moved there and require my expert design services…  but of course, dahhhhling.

M.C. may join if the two or three gigs he is after do not pan out… I’ll keep you posted.

Soon, however, as promised, I’ll provide shots from the Oscar Gifting Suites and fesitivities.  Just waiting on them from the event people!

Have a marvelous weekend my lovely boys and girls.  And don’t let those yummy shrimp get away!

Love you people!  Mmmmmmphhhhuuuhhhhh!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

Hot or Not? Zagat This, Osteria Mozza!

March 10, 2010 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

So I went with a gal pal to one of those shi-shi places in Hollywood last week. It’s called Osteria Mozza, on Melrose. The place was listed on Zagat as one of THE places to spot celebrities and see or be seen in Hollywood during Oscar week.  It had some great food and wine list reviews as well.  My girlfriend was visiting from Florida, so we thought it a good opportunity to get into one of those “tough-to-get-into” places, enjoy the wine, have a fabulous meal… and do some serious people watching.

This is the inside of Osteria Mozza. Cool eh?

Here’s what we ordered:

Grilled Octopus with potatoes, celery & lemon  $18

Bufala Mozzarellawith prosciutto di Parma  $16

Insalata mista $8

Sauteed baby broccoli with chilies & vinegar $10

Orecchiette with sausage & Swiss chard  $18

Sunchokes with caperi & salsa verde $10

And some wine from the Borello district – priced at $75.00/bottle.

Here’s what we liked:

The bread.

The cool people watching.

That’s it.

So – this restaurant on Hollywood’s (or ZAGAT’s) HOT list, gets a bad review in my book.  The menu was over priced, the food overly greasy and/or buttery, and/or salty (which does NOT help we somewhat “diet conscious” types at all), and the wine a poor suggestion for a first wine of the evening.

And the worst part?  The service was extremely underwhelming, if not down right dismal.  They repeatedly took important pieces of silverware, and required that I ask multiple servers for replacements, and the only thing we DID like — the bread — required multiple inquiries as well before we were served any.  I’m sorry, but if you are going to be one of the top restaurants in a major metropolitan area, you’ve got to get that “service” thing DOWN. If you have excellent, exceptional service, you can almost get away with mediocre food.  Almost. This place served up mediocre to poor in both food and service.

And the REALLY worst part?  This place was known by M.C. Nugget’s big-time ICM former agent, and said agent had been wanting to go there.  How could I EVER take anyone to this place after that experience?  What a disappointment!

So… as far as my post here is titled, I’d have to go with a resounding, “NOT.”

How’s that for harsh!?  Sorry folks.  It’s not like I didn’t TRY to enjoy the place or the menu.  I relish what I do (and that covers a LOT of bases), and I feel it’s my job to make sure my peeps have a FABULOUS experience when they visit Tinsel Town.  So, when you come – dine at Osteria Mozza at your own risk.  Then ask me where to go for exquisite wining, dining, ambiance and people watching.

Stay tuned for my dish on the Oscar gifting suites, pre-Oscar festivities, and my all-too-Ms. Cheevious Oscar Viewing party which had its own share of technical difficulties!

Have a fantastic day my lovelies!

Oh!  And since I didn’t post last week, I’ll try to shoot another one off in a few days.

Love you people! Mmmmmphhhuuhhhhh!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

Can-Do Attitude Baby!

February 26, 2010 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

Did some great hobnobbing in Hollywood last night people.  Yep.  Celebrities GALORE.

I took my clients to a benefit for Haiti called “Heroes of Haiti.”

Yeah.  I know.

Isn’t Haiti all better now?

NO.

They’re NOT.

And they still need help.

Before I go on, go to www.can-do.org and watch their video.  They are all about accountability, and will show you what your money pays for over there.  They go in, rally the locals to help, and they get things done, bypassing or circumventing the red tape.  Then after you watch the video, perhaps you should make a little donation.  If you can…. do…..  that is.

Here is a strip of photos from the event last night.  It was pretty star-studded, and fun!  Of course, none of these are my clients, for anonymity purposes… but take a look at a couple of these.  Recognize a certain Million Dollar Diva (whom I so graciously wrote about not too long ago)?

Heroes of Haiti Benefit for Can-Do.org, by In Touch Weekly & Reality Cares

Fun stuff eh?  It WAS fun.  You can also peruse the event photos on Wire Image.  What was really spectacular was the video they played at the event.  It said it all.  Go and view it people!  Can-Do is a worthwhile organization, and we ALL need to have a Can-Do Attitude.

So there you have it!   I’m off to a girlfriend’s birthday bash in Beverly Hills.  Then it’ll be fun by the beach with my man, M.C. Nugget.

Yummmmy.

Love you people!  MMMMMMPPPHUUUUHHHH!!!
