Daily Mischief

Show me what you can do

SHOW ME WHAT YOU CAN DO

#DailyMischief

I sometimes I think in September and October the blog gets bogged down with TOO MUCH of my fundraising. On one hand I must spread the word, and on the other hand, I am sure you get pissed off at the incessant prodding about my causes and will more than likely leave me. I know. Serious abandonment issues. Plus, I’m a little neurotic when it comes to you, my readers. You’ve been here for me through pretty much everything (pssst…. don’t leave me).

And I promise guys, I do try  to keep things here on the blog light and separate from my fundraising efforts whenever possible, but my life is consumed  these two months. So what else am I going to talk about? They happen to also be my two busiest months next to the holidays because – as you probably figured out – they are back-to-back cancer awareness months (Ovarian and Breast cancer, respectively).

So indulge me a little, and I promise to sprinkle the FUN in here and there too. Deal? The fundraising will be over after October!

Now here is what’s going on, as well as a WHAT WENT DOWN DURING LAST MONTH’S FUNDRAISER:

OVARIAN CANCER MONTH

In September (the teal month) I created a beautiful, affordable single charm bracelet, pictured here:

MsCheevious Charm Bracelet

as well as a few other products (pins and magnets) that said “Do something to stop ovarian cancer.” I took my own icon for Ms. Cheevious

mscheevious_painting

and adapted it into a teal image. All of the proceeds for that campaign went to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.  We raised one dollar per item (that was my profit, believe it or not. I know. I need to find a better supplier because the money these companies are making off my hard work is downright ridiculous), and raised a total of $53.00.

Don’t spread the hate. I know it’s nothing huge to write home about, but I’m doing SOMETHING, which is more than I can say for the masses. I am quite happy with the results, considering I merely emailed it to you all and shared it on facebook and twitter. But guess what? You can still buy any of these SUPER AFFORDABLE items (you guys, we’re talking about buying yourself one less Cafe Latte in most cases), and we’ll save up the profits for next September as well. Here is the artwork that appears on the charm as well as the other items.

OVARIAN CANCER greatness and terrific items:

AND NOW IT’S TIME FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

And for October, I’ve started selling two very cool items. I just ordered mine so unfortunately I’m unable to provide in-the-flesh modeling photos. You poor things.

And all of the proceeds for these benefit FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered), the organization that supports those afflicted by hereditary breast & ovarian cancer. The links for each are below.

THE MS. CHEEVIOUS BREAST CANCER LUGGAGE TAG

It’s $10.95 plus shipping & handling. I have this same tag, but it’s got my icon from above (in the regular “red”) as the artwork, and I absolutely LOVE IT. It’s SUPER sturdy, well-made and stands out at the luggage carousel!

Get one for everyone in your life who travels and make a statement about Breast Cancer (the more you buy, the more worthwhile the shipping cost!).

And guys, if the NFL can sport pink, by GOD so can you.

BCA_LuggageTag

The luggage tags can be purchased (it’s in stock and will ship in 3-5 days) here: http://www.zazzle.com/ms_cheevious_breast_cancer_awareness_tag_luggage_tag-256702722007252191

THE MS. CHEEVIOUS BREAST CANCER NECK SCARF

I’ve ordered mine in the dark gray (far right), but it’s available in nine different colors. It’s slightly sheer, but super long and pretty, and the writing and pink ribbon on it is small enough to be elegant, but large enough to make a statement. I’ve also made this item customizable, so you can add “In memory of______” to the scarf if you would like. It’s a fantastic item for fall and says it all – SAVE.THE.BOOBIES people.

BCA_NeckScarf_Colors

This item is $22.95 plus shipping and handling. I’ll post a photo of me in mine just as SOON as it arrives. Get the scarves here: http://www.zazzle.com/ms_cheevious_hereditary_breastcancer_scarf-256814118370194079

That’s it people. I’m spent. I’ve pushed, I’ve prodded. It is now your turn to do some good. Show me what you can do.

And the chocolate goes to…

#DailyMischief

It was a great giveaway, with over 30 comments (including my replies of course), and after filtering out those who were not qualified (ahem – NUGGIE), and one who is allergic to chocolate (poor soul), it was MITCH. MITCH won the box of goodies from Sucre New Orleans! Congratulations to Mitch, and best of luck to you all in the future!

Things I enjoyed this week… ribbons, the government shut down and how to beat the TSA

Things I enjoyed this week… ribbons, the government shut down and how to beat the TSA

My original Pink Ribbon

You know I couldn’t begin my “things I enjoyed” post with something other than this below. The pink ribbon below (for Breast Cancer Awareness) is my own original artwork, and appears on a winter scarf that is elegant, classy and comes in NINE COLORS. I chose charcoal grey.

You now have no excuse not to support a good cause, because all of these proceeds will go to FORCE (Facing our Risk of Cancer Empowered, which supports anyone afflicted by hereditary breast or ovarian cancer) – a very worthy cause. And the scarves are very affordable at $22.95 plus shipping/handling (shipping is more affordable the more you buy of course) – the link is included in the post below, but here it is again: http://www.zazzle.com/ms_cheevious_hereditary_breastcancer_scarf-256814118370194079. Sad to say that the “Sale” below, is over… But it’s still CHEAP:

Having fun with the Government Shutdown

I’m sharing this one now to illustrate a point. You guys, how come a couple of kids are so much smarter than our nation’s leaders? It’s extremely depressing.

An event that makes history such as the recent government shutdown, even if that something signifies a gross lack of intelligence, maturity and grasp of reality on the part of our congressional leaders, is something I couldn’t resist poking fun at.

I poked fun alright. BIG. You’ll find it in a post from earlier this week. I really enjoyed writing this, especially given the fact that the fiery arguments around the shut down ridiculously circle around a law people don’t like. It’s weird to me that no one seems to mind that the due process of government has been ignored… and they don’t seem to care what tactics are used as long as they get their way. But it’s okay. Those hundred-thousand or so furloughed workers probably needed a little vacation, right?

Post by Ms. Cheevious.

Don’t think I am not aware that two of the things to make this list are my own inventions. I know. There there. And if my post on the shut down wasn’t enough for you (above), there was also THIS from Charles P. Pierce at Esquire.com I truly enjoyed as well.

How to Beat the TSA

You had to know this was coming. For a price, you too can jump the line and be the KING (or Queen) of the TSA. Imagine that. It really is all about money. The article on Businessweek.com tells all.

I’ve got better things to do

October 4, 2013 by MsCheevious

I’ve got better things to do

Remember the time I told you that my version of a perfect world would call for the immediate and total annihilation and extinction of every living bug and creepy crawly insect in our universe? Well, my ongoing battle with the bug and insect kingdom has been covered here ad nauseum, infinitum. So hows about another topic?

I’ve since changed my entire position on my increased tensions with the bug world. It’s not that the bugs and I actually like each other or get along now, GOD no. And no, we did not elicit help from our Congressional leaders in an effort to cool the tensions. Hell no. Our Congressional leaders are far too busy with more important matters like shutting down our government and stuff.

No, I still loathe the little beasts. But I did realize that if we don’t do something about the bees that are dying in droves on planet earth, we may witness an apocalyptic-like scenario never before seen. Besides, those creepy crawlers and flying pests have made it absolutely clear they’ll follow me to the ends of the earth. The little pests are constantly doing things to annoy me while everyone keeps saying how they’re doing so much GOOD (like pollinating and eating trash and other things). I always protested (to put it mildly), because someone had to cry foul.

But in an effort to preserve the human race (because… save the bees), I’ve decided to let bygones be bygones.  And you guys… this is no small task! We’re talking years of tension! I can clearly recall numerous times I’ve been doing my thing, walking down the block (for example), only to have a bee buzz its way up my nose or into my ear (have I said this before?). I’ve knocked children, tricycles, trees, and the occasional senior citizen down while running, screaming, arms flailing around trying to escape or SMASH the pests to smithereens.

But I have decided that in every new similar situation that arises, I will try to access (from deep within my memory banks) the instructions my dear mother fed me repeatedly while growing up. Instructions for how to deal with bullies:

“Ignore them.”

Do you understand how hard that is for someone like me? Listen. Every single time some freaking idiot kid did something horrific like take my Troll doll and smear it through dog poop in the yard, and my mom said “Just ignore them,” I was the kid who decked the psycho, and then followed her advice….

But I now realize change must come.

I believe with deep resolution that my dear mom’s approach is the best possible option, since my kingdom and the kingdom of the little beasts must dwell together.

So I’d like to seize this moment while tensions are high and everyone is frantically searching for a solution, to let you know just how I plan to be the bigger – um – person.

While the bugs may continue to run around looking for ways to bite me or nip at my delectable skin, I’ll be waxing my very best Meh – and – And you are??? While I’m doing THIS:

Kicking Ass and Taking Names
Kicking Ass and Taking Names. Yep. I have better things to do.

SUCK IT bugs.  I mean….

Can’t we all just get along? Because, LORD knows I’ve got better things to do.

Allegory intended.

Here is where this works in your favor

September 29, 2013 by MsCheevious

Here is where this works in your favor…

Sucre_Chocolate

I intimated a few days ago, that I’m giving you all (well one of you) the glorious opportunity to sample some yummy chocolate for free. One of you lucky, chocolate loving readers is going to receive a very special delivery of these little delectables… just keep reading to find out how.

A few weeks ago a company called Sucre contacted me. They thought pretty highly of the blog, and well – you readers, and wanted to send a box of chocolates to one of you. At first I thought, How nice, they want to send something to someone I know and love.

And then I came to my senses.

They wanted to send some chocolate to someone else, you guys!

They wanted to send chocolate… but not to me.

I had to ask my new best friends if they knew who they were dealing with, because clearly, if they did, the chocolate would be on my doorstep, and we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows how this would play out.

In case you are not a tweeter, here are just a few of my tweets on the matter:

Chocolate.. the elixir of life, the ender of arguments, the starter of romance, the ignitor of passion…VODKA? The gas on the fire baby!

— Ms. Cheevious (@MsCheevious) September 27, 2012

Any lover of #chocolate (or #vodka… Or #Jameson‘s, for that matter) is a #lover of mine.

— Ms. Cheevious (@MsCheevious) May 26, 2013

Chocolate rates so high in my world, it (as well as vodka) is used to rate products in my Techno Babe Moments videos.

I gotta hand it to those smart people over at Sucre, because a few days later, this arrived on my doorstep:

Sucre_doorstep

I’m not often derailed from my plan to live a healthy lifestyle (NOT)… but this little package warranted some experimentation. You know, so I could make sure this chocolate was worthy of one of you.

So I tried some. Then, I tried some more. And in an effort to not become a big fat fatty boombalatty, I begged M.C. Nugget to try some.  Here is a little video montage of our chocolate experimentation — all done with you in mind.

If you don’t see the video box above, click here or the image thumbnail below!

Sucre_Video_Thumbnail

After careful consideration, I’ve decided that Sucre chocolates may now send one of you a box of their chocolates… even though you can tell by the video that I struggled to really like them. But you know… it’s free and all.  Now get to it if you want these little treasures in a box.

TO RECEIVE THIS BOX OF CHOCOLATES:  You must comment here on the blog before October 7, 2013. One random winner / commenter will be chosen to receive their very own box of fabulousness.

But you… you can call us *that*

But you… you can call us *that*

I recently reconnected with one of the first bloggers I ever fell in love with – Random Esquire. Random’s posts were well-written, witty and packed so full of ingenuity I was sick with jealousy. My kinda love.

I’d thought often about Random, who’d left the blogosphere some time ago, and wasn’t sure how to reach out. Then I recently found a twitter handle that seemed to fit, and BINGO, it was my long lost pal. Since then, we’ve been tweeting back and forth reminiscing about the good ole’ days.

This is how happy I am to have Random back in my life:  I told my long lost friend about that time M. C. Nugget and I went to my agent’s barbecue and were forced to come up with a name for what we “are” – a couple, lovers, etc. I ended that post assuming I’d missed the opportunity of a lifetime, by not saying we were “LOVE SLAVES” — “CO-LOVE SLAVES.” I thought I was pretty freakin’ funny there, but then Random tweeted this:

RandomEsq_Tweet

LOVE GADGET. DONE.

You can call us THAT.
