Girls Night Out

Media Mogul Ms.

January 23, 2012 by MsCheevious

**My apologies to my subscribers for the email you may have received while my crack-team (no.  not my team on crack) of site programmers work out the bugs on a new email format! Now onto today’s post!**

Okay Rupert Murdoch: hopefully you’re not in jail for phone hacking, because I may need your help.

There’s a new media upstart in town and she’s… of all things… using her REAL NAME (cue scare chord, as they say in music/film).

I confess.  She happens to be the creator of this website, the Ms. Cheevious book, the YouTube channel, Twitter, Facebook page and well — ME.  But STILL!  Will she stop at nothing?

I suppose not, because here, this is MY blog, and I’m spreading the word like a pawn in her sinister game of chess.  The goal?  World domination, no doubt.  And, I can’t — re–zist— tell–ing… (grunt) you– about — (moan) — the  —  #%!/  — new — YouTube channel!!!  Whew!!! (Exhausted).

So here it is – her first video on her (read with sarcasm) NEW Channel! Neener neener neener & La-Di-friggin-Dah:

If you can’t see the video box above, click here or copy/paste this link into a browser window: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIuADlcACk4&context=C3528ddeADOEgsToPDskLFoyPePK7v5_9f6ffoEYv3

Go there NOW, would you?  No one can predict what she’ll do to me (or any of us) if you don’t!

I’m told this is a Vlog site – so no shows or comedy.  But if you ask me she’s a real crack pot – I mean – crack up all on her own.

Lemme know what you think you gorgeous men and women!

Love you people!!!!! Mmmmppphhhuuuhhh!!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

Celebrities, Wine, Fashion, Police

January 24, 2011 by MsCheevious

Hello my lovely darlings, and wine-fashion-celebrity fiends!

Guess what? I’ve posted a new video blog (vlog) for you to enjoy! This episode is entitled “The Celebrity Fashion Police”!

Join me (in the episode as Lisette) and my friend William, as we critique and cheer various fashions at the Bel-Air Magazine New Year’s Eve party this year.

My man, Emcee Nugget made an appearance as well, with his own set of “circumstances” HA! And be sure to watch the video in its entirety to see a snapshot our friend Charity Winters from Celebrity Wine Review chatting it up with the always charming, and laugh-out-loud funny Emcee.

And I’ve got a BONUS for you people. Send this blog post to EVERYONE you know. ONE LUCKY COMMENTER will receive a Wine Soiree Aerator-Decantur (click here to see it) from my great friends at Celebrity Wine Review . But you have to comment – LOTS.  Share this on facebook, and you, your friends, relatives, minions… you name it – share it – and get them to comment here, on Youtube, everywhere!  One lucky winner will get this fantastic and delicious little wine accoutrement!  The decision on the most creative comment or the best comment (whichever strikes me) will be made at the end of February, 2011 – which gives you all PLENTY of time to become witty or interesting (but brief is good too) commentators.  If you win – and you’ve posted a valid email address (for only my eyes to see – promise), or if you comment on youtube… don’t you worry… I’ll FIND you, and you will not only be a WINNER but a WINER – HA!! 🙂

For those of you receiving this via email, if you do not see the video above, click here to view and comment!  Or go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iLQ65dwUAQ.

And guess what?  That isn’t ALL.  Remember my last post, “The Great Blackout of 2011“?  I am giving a gorgeous “scentsy” candle away for the best comment on that post, or on youtube!

Love you people!!!  Mmmppphhhhhhuuuuhhhh!!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

Power Chick. Super Hero Status Confirmed

October 29, 2010 by MsCheevious

Off to work today my pretties.  Working on an event that  is my own little brain child… well, sort of.  You know how every once in a while you get truly inspired or jazzed about an idea that is concocted between you and a best friend?  You and he/she come up with the next great self-help book, kids fantasy novel, campy movie idea, or whatever / wherever the conversation takes you?

Well, I suppose that is how my little event came about.  My girlfriend Britt , when I was branching out into entertainment PR use to constantly say, “We need to set up drinks with some other girls I know in the business… we need to get you networking.”  We mentioned some rendition of this, among other ideas that might help each of us expand, learn and grow in our businesses / arts many times.  Then one day I just did it.  I’d met a few ladies over the last couple of years who were very active in their chosen entertainment industry fields (and beyond)… not too many… but certainly enough that I was interested to set up drinks and commiserate with more than one of them.

And so it was, the Power Chicks – Power Drinks gatherings took shape. I set it up where we’d meet for happy hour at a popular Los Angeles bar or restaurant, on a date that worked for the majority.  There was no agenda, no name tags, nothing.  Just some intelligent, talented, busy and happy-to-be-in-the-business ladies getting together to talk about what they do, what they are up to, or whatever they feel like.  As questions came up, we  asked or answered them.  It was and is pretty simple.  After the first gathering, I got a sense that if it continued to be this easy and different from formal “networking” groups,  it could actually last.

So, tonight, in honor of the official leap into Fall – with Halloween – we are hosting a Power Chicks gathering of a different nature — at one of the gal’s homes.  I opened this one up to the ladies to invite and bring their own gal-pals.  The normal five or so gals has grown to about thirty, and we now have a full-fledged event on our hands.

Why, you may ask, am I telling you all of this “WORK” stuff?  “This does not sound at all Ms. Cheevious-y” you may say.  Well, for one, you gorgeous individuals… because…  don’t you see?  On top of all my other glorious, perfectly fitting nicknames, I’m also a POWER CHICK now, as well! Isn’t that AWESOME?!!

Let’s see if I can recap for you some or all of the various monikers I’ve collected over the past few years:

1) Yummy (given me by M.C. Nugget, because I say it a lot, and because hey –  I AM)

2) Sherwood (once MC knew it was my given name, well he added that to the list… and it IS a name I grew up with)

3) Brat-tay (because as part of the Sherwood Girls, this super-hero name matches my know-it-all personality)

4) Jabba (also given me by MC, but only when I do a really funny impersonation — just about every time I feel like I’ve eaten too much – which is immediately following just about every meal)

5) Jiggly-Puff – or – Puffy the Hut (another couple a names –  by – you guessed it – MC (he likes nicknames) because when I get bit by insects, and – let’s face it – I AM YUMMY, after all… they bite… OFTEN… and when they do, I puff up, and get swollen and it sort of jiggles some times.  Not pretty people… but pretty funny).

6) Any other number of various monikers, mostly used by M.C. because he is just one of those guys who will come up with an appropriate name on the spot, such as Hottie McHottelstein, Jabba the Puff (a cross between Jabba and Jiggly Puff) and of course my normal, every day monikers of Lisa Jey and Ms. Cheevious.

7) But now, I am also a POWER CHICK not to be messed with in any way, shape or form.

And then, there is the “for two” part.  Hellooooo…  did you notice the FULL name of the event?  Power Chicks – Power Drinks? Here is our fall gathering “logo” below.

That’s right.  What self-respecting Power Chick can’t hold her alcohol?  I know I can, and I do.  And that is what this post is about: Moi.  HA!   And my super-hero status, confirmed.

Okay.  Don’t all puke at once.  Had to have a little fun with this one.  Ya’ gotta give me that.

So, while I am concocting and sippy on Pumpkin Martinis, and commiserating with my other Power Chicks, I hope you are preparing for a simply fabulous weekend of dressing up like whimsical fairies, sniveling pirates, ghosts and witches…  and not all at once or in that order.

Enjoy yourselves RESPONSIBLY my lovely men and women!  I know I will try!

Love you people!!! Mmmmmmmmppphhhhuuuuhhhhhh!!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

A Time to Laugh. A Time to Cry.

September 23, 2010 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

That old song “turn turn turn” by the Byrds so resonates with me… (lyrics here).  I have been living and breathing the “time to cry” or “weep” part for many months now, and DAMMIT I AM TIRED OF IT.  It’s time to laugh people.

Here is my encouragement to you – because I am on a roll right now and resolved with my truly positive thoughts (heh heh):

Shed the weight of things past: disappointment, loss, poverty, fatigue, apathy… and get up and LIVE life.

BREATHE EVERY MOMENT of life in and smile.

Whatever your demon, it is time to let it GO!

No.

KICK ITS ASS and get rid of it.

That “thing” that has beset you and changed the YOU that you know and love — well, it has no more real estate in your life.  Evict it, and renovate and redecorate your life, and get on with it.  Okay? No excuses.  It is time to live FEARLESSLY.  Just do it.

That’s what I’m going to do.  Starting with GLOW – this weekend in Santa Monica – an all night celebration of art and people.

My sister Maven would soooo approve, and guess what?  In honor of her, I am movin’ on and movin’ up.

DONE.

As for you my pretties?  Get out there this weekend and get your GLOW on. I actually care for all of you – and hope only the absolute BEST for each and every one of you!

Love you people! Mmmmmmphhhhuuuhhhhh!!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

I Am On FIRE!

January 9, 2010 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

So, the date was December 19, 2009. M.C. and I hosted a little holiday party at my place. It was awesome. People came and went. A couple of my clients stopped by, as well as some family… It was the usual holiday get-together.  That is, until about 2:00 am.

That’s when all that remained were me, M.C. and a couple of our friends who decided to stick around and gab. At one point we decided to start taking photos to remember the evening.

I was the first designated photographer (and last – you’ll see why in a second). I moved in to get a great shot, and leaned over to get an even  “better” angle of the three of them.  I didn’t realize I was dangerously close to a taper candle M.C. lit earlier that evening.

My girlfriend gasped and said, “Lisa! Your hair’s, on fire!” I shrugged it off and patted it out… or so I thought, until she continued, “No! It’s REALLY on fire!”

Just then M.C. took two very large strides in my direction and somehow patted the flames out — VERY quickly.  (Actually all of that happened in a matter of seconds).

That was it for the photo session!  I ran to my bathroom to observe the damage, and believe it or not, there was NO VISIBLE DAMAGE?  I am NOT kidding!  That’s what I get for accommodating my friends and being the designated photog!  Ha!

The only thing I can think of which may have prevented my hair from going “POOF!” and literally bursting into flames, however, is that I’d been using a new hair product for a while (that day and evening included). It was a heat protector to be used prior to flat-ironing your hair.  I’d been in search of something like it for years, and when I found it a few months back, I immediately began to use it.  It protects your hair up to 475 degrees, Fahrenheit.  So – I am thinking it had to have some sort of FLAME RETARDANT in the mix!  Ha ha!  Is that CRAZY or WHAT?

So, here is a picture of me with some super imposed flames on my hair.  I never got any pictures of myself that evening… as I mentioned!  By the time we got around to taking photos, my hair burst into flames!  HA HA!

I’m told this is how big the flame was (or at least this is how I imagined it based on the saucer-sized eye balls my girlfriend had)!!

What’s funny is that about a week later, my girlfriend called me up to tell me that I must have angels around me, because my whole head of hair was engulfed in flames, and there was NO damage.  We were laughing about it.  I told her about my little product, which, of course, she asked me to pick up for her the next time I saw it.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday.  She was back at my house, prior to an event I was taking her to (she is also a client of mine).  It was the People’s Choice Awards Post Celebration Party Benefiting Britticares (for kids with cancer).  Long story short, I was still finishing up my “flat-iron” routine when she arrived, so she chatted with me while I finished up.  My “product” was sitting on the counter, and I held it up to her.  And I swear, it was the FIRST time I’d actually paid any attention to the name, but it was called “GUARDIAN ANGEL.”  I kid you NOT.  Pretty funny!  We CRACKED UP at the fact that not only did I have angels around me, but I also had a GUARDIAN ANGEL – in a BOTTLE!  Ha!

And – of course, without further adieu – here it is, my friends. My “Guardian Angel”:

Be sure to click this link and buy it now (shameless plug, I know).

So – we laughed and went off to enjoy a fabulous night at the People’s Choice Awards Post Celebration.  It was a fantastic event, and my girl and another celebrity friend were photographed, interviewed, hit up for autographs – the whole shebang (sp?).

Whew!  I’m SOOO glad I can take that one off the list! I now know what it’s like to be ON FIRE.

Have a fantastic weekend you marvelously gorgeous humans!

Love you people!  Mmmmmmppphhuuuhhhhhh!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious
