Remember How to Be a Kid – Everyday

March 31, 2013 by MsCheevious

It may seem a bit late, but in celebration of Easter, I’d like to help you remember how to be a kid. Read on, because this is valuable stuff… all the time.

One of my mantras in life is

I MUST REMEMBER HOW TO BE A KID – EVERYDAY

…let alone the holidays…

My kids are grown up now. The youngest is almost 18, which means he doesn’t “do” the Easter Basket thing. Any celebration of Easter in his world (at least in the child-like, Easter Bunny kinda way) comes from me, from a distance (he lives with his dad out of state).

Damn straight, I send him goodies for Easter. I give goodies to all my loves… my youngest son, my oldest son, and my man, M.C.

Poor M.C.

As sweet as it may sound to “bless” all my loves with goodies on the holidays, my gifts come at a price. Anyone close enough to me to receive something must be able to relive their childhood (over and over) and participate in every kind of childish game I happen to think of and spring on them.

Which leads me to the moral of the story:

Life is too short to take everything seriously. It’s spring…the season of renewal, forgiveness, redemption and joy. Enjoy life. Meditate, read, sing, speak, dance, eat…but ENJOY your life. Do what makes you happy.

Try to remember the joy and sheer delight you experienced as a child when gifts awaited you, or you were surprised by fabulous treats. Be that. Be surprised and joyful about life. Look for the moments and seize them. Who cares what people think? Right?

So, this morning, I laid out a trail of chocolate for M.C. Nugget.  Before he could have his first cup of coffee, he was required to find all of the treats. The chocolates from the bedroom door to his desk led to his first card and a chocolate Easter Bunny. Next on the trail, Easter egg Jordan Almonds… and then to the Piece de Resistance, the final card along with his protégé, Ernie Hamster (we’re working on a suitable rap handle), who was ready to perform his new single “Here a Chick There a Chick”

It may prove impossible for you to decipher his earth-shattering lyrics in the video below, so I’ve provided them here:

Here a chick here… Imma Imma a chick there…
Here a chick, there a chick, everywhere a chick chick.

If you’re talkin’ bout chicks yo, I GOT GAME!
Hidden my eggs, yo I find MANY!
Find my Easter basket, walk out the DOOR
Chillin’s all around me now, that’s for SHOR!
Easter Bunny, yeah HE GOT GAME
But I’m an Easter Chick… Headin’ for FAME!

Imma chick here… Imma Imma chick there…
Here a chick there a chick, everywhere a chick CHICK.

In the event you can’t see the video box above, follow the link to youtube, and comment there (share it everywhere, of course) and then come back here and comment, would ya? http://youtu.be/8DTg0aBGEhc

Monday is April Fools Day in 2013. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll be in for a treat. A fun #AprilFools tweet, that is, every hour on the hour until 10PM.

Have a wonderfully childish and carefree week my loves!

Love you people!!!! Mmmmmppphhhuuuhhh!!!

Things We Enjoyed This Week: Tech Talk iPhone 5 on SNL

December 5, 2012 by MsCheevious

I’m revealing way too much about my age for my own good by saying this, but I actually remember the days of Saturday Night Live with Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, Steve Martin and so many other comedic greats. I was young and impressionable, but god were they laugh-out-loud, pee-your-pants funny. I’ve always held to the belief that few casts since have matched the “funny” of that first group. Of course, there are obvious exceptions to that, and SNL has managed to maintain its seat at the throne of comedy for decades with some off-the-charts hilarious sketches. My dear friend from Bad Online Dates is an internet geek, and told me about this sketch she saw last weekend. She so graciously shared the link, and I have to say it is one of the BEST skits in a LONG time from SNL! It’s intelligent humor at its best. It KILLED both me and M.C. Nugget. And I don’t say that lightly. Rarely does something make me laugh so hard that I die, but this one did. Someone resuscitate me now.

Enjoy it as we did, but be ready with the defibrillator:

In the event the embedded video (above) does not display – even after you have refreshed your browser, I’ve provided an image of the video below which links directly to it. Feel free to click below if you can’t make the widget above work, but come back to click the links to some of the other great sketches I’ve provided here as well.

Tech Talk: iPhone 5 by Saturday Night Live (SNL)

Hey, as much of an old-school SNL girl I like to believe I am, that video ranks way up there.

As far as old-school, if you have ever heard someone say “We’re just some Wild & Crazy Guys?” but didn’t know it came from an iconic SNL sketch, then click here to check it out. If you’ve never heard the saying before in your life, well, I’m sorry. You can leave, after you crawl out from under your rock.

And if you haven’t seen these more recent skits, it’s about damn time… you will DEFINITELY need the defibrillator for at least one of these:  Dick in a Box and Schweddy Balls. And of course, if you have ever known anyone from Southern Californian, then you know they’ve NAILED it with their sketch The Californians.

Stay tuned for more of the Things We Enjoyed This Week, and perhaps something entirely different.

Enjoy Every Moment, you lovely ladies and gentlemen.

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

A Year in Review From the Mind of The Nugget

February 7, 2012 by MsCheevious

Stick with me for a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT at the end of this post!

————————

What can I say?  My beau knows how to entertain.  Yep.  M.C. Nugget isn’t a newbie. He threw this video together with some never-before-seen footage, memories and other clips from 2012.  It’s pretty funny, especially if you’ve been following along all year — though your involvement with me and this blog in the last year isn’t necessary for you to enjoy it.  You’ll get it.

I’ve included it here, for your pleasure.  If you want to see his version, well, it’s on his YouTube Channel.  The version I’m sharing here is very close to his, but includes a brief intro, by MOI.

If you are a newbie to Ms. Cheevious, know this before diving in:  M.C. Nugget is the alias for my boyfriend.  He was previously called Fred the Wonder Chicken, until he decided he wanted a new alias.  Both “Nuggie” and FWC have their own action figures, and yes, they are Chicken action figures (the actual toy Chicken kind, not the “scaredy cat” variety).  Trust me.  You’ll get it when you watch.

Without further adieu.  Watch, laugh and enjoy…

Again, if your browser or email does not display the video above, click here or copy/paste this URL into a browser window: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTH4jG6_0e4&list=UUhKHsXXs7Hy-rA1hi-sz2Uw&index=1&feature=plcp

And Here is My MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT:

The episode of The Doctors with me and Dr. Lisa Cassileth is set to air on Monday, February 13, 2012! (Check your local listings to know channel and times).  Set your DVRs, VCRs or whatever you need to do, but watch it please!

Then, go to their website www.thedoctorstv.com and let them know how much you loved it!  Will you?

That’s it for now! Enjoy the rest of your week, and DON’T FORGET TO TUNE IN TO MY EPISODE!

Love you people!!!!! Mmmmppphhhuuuhhh!!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

Mammoth Mountain Moments: My Plan for the Existence of Humanity

November 15, 2011 by MsCheevious

____

As ski season approaches, I just thought it apropos to post my video about my trip to Mammoth Mountain for skiing IN JUNE!!

We had SUCH a blast!  The sheer novelty of traveling through 95 degree temperatures just a few miles away, to ski the slopes of Mammoth Mountain – well that’s what I’m ALL about!

M.C. Nugget has a video of his own in the edit bay, but this one is all from my perspective. I did it back in October and posted to my Ms. Cheevious Youtube Channel, but it definitely warranted a blog post! And stay with me, because I divulge my plan for the existence of humanity. Yes, you’ll see me lounging on the slopes, skiing and – well, eating and drinking of course!

These are some profound thoughts, or “moments” I’m sharing with you people. It doesn’t get much better than this.  Plus – the music is cool, once again.  AND – I think you will AGREE that my plan for the existence of humanity is pretty cool… and ONE person who comes up with their own rendition of the “product” in question and posts in on my FACEBOOK page wins $25 bucks!  YEEHAW!  It has to be a photo or drawing, etc, and I will choose names out of a hat… if any of you actually do this!    You’ll know what I’m talking about when you see the video!  So get to it!

Enjoy!

If this video doesn’t display in your email or browser, please click here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnALYukZeBA).

Then, PLEASE 1) post comments on youtube, 2) hit the “thumbs up” or “like” and 3) SUBSCRIBE to my fun youtube channel!

That’s it for now everyone!  Love and kisses to you all, as I enter the editing bay for the SECOND edition of Mammoth Moments!

Have a great rest of your week, and tune in next time for my annual Thanksgiving post!

Love you people!!!! Mmmmmpppphhhuuuuhhhh!!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious

I Heart Vegas… Mostly

May 14, 2011 by MsCheevious

Don’t be Shy!  Leave a Reply!

Yo yo yo, my little darlings! It’s been far too long!

I have missed you lovely boys and girls SO MUCH!

But, ahhhhhh,  I am very refreshed.  Vegas did me good!!!!  Doesn’t it do everyone good? (She asks, doe-eyed and demurely… heh heh)….

Though I planned, plotted, schemed and organized until I was about to drop dead from the exhaustion (including my time IN Vegas),  I am quite satisfied that Nuggie’s birthday weekend was an incredible success!  (PS: If you are new here, “Nuggie” is the alias for my man.  I only divulge the names of friends and family who agree, or want to make an appearance in my blog/vlogs. Otherwise I have changed their names to protect their identities.  Because – HEY! What happens in Ms. Cheevious-land, STAYS in Ms. Cheevious-land!! Mwaaa-haaa-ha-haaaaa!  But you can see a complete list of the characters who make their appearances in one of my blog “about” pages here – https:/about-2/).

So, without further adieu I am diving right in to the play-by-play of the weekend. Stick around, because near the end I give some reviews on restaurants/bars (i heart nine.nine.nine.nine.nine. hint! hint!), AND I have created a “Highlights Video” just for you! xo

Here is the LOVELY AGENDA I put together.

Emcee Nugget's Birthday Agenda - Day 1

Emcee Nugget's Birthday Agenda - Day 2

Emcee Nugget's Birthday Agenda - Day 3 and 4

There it is people!  Everything went off without a hitch…

WELL…ALMOST.

We experienced a couple of snafu’s which required some fancy footwork at times, but here is the low-down for you.  Be sure to make MENTAL NOTES of who to patronize the next time you are in Vegas.  Listen up people:

MIX RESTAURANT / BAR REVIEW

Food: Spectacular. PASS!

Wait & Restaurant Staff: Superb & Professional, yet exceptionally SLOW.  Pass – but with disappointment.

Management Service & Bedside Manner:

FAIL

WHY?  Well, I’ll tell you:

  1. We had 22+ people spending money on fine wines, expensive dinners and cocktails.  We were assured entrance (ahead of time, I might add, because I wanted to be SURE every detail was covered for my guests in advance) into MIX’s lounge/nightclub after dinner.
  2. BUT, because one of our guests (over 50) did not have her ID with her, they would not allow her in.
  3. We’d spent upwards of $3,000 in our party (at the VERY least), and yet they could not make that concession for ONE person in our group of 22+ people!
  4. Their excuse?  Because it was Las Vegas law that after 10:00 PM everyone must show ID.

That did not bode well at ALL with Ms. Cheevious, publicist to the stars (with some of those very people in attendance)!  Okay.  So I get the law thing, and one could argue my guest should have carried her ID with her in Vegas.

BUT – I contended that the management, KNOWING FULL WELL I was the event planner of this evening, having agreed to allow us into the club, should have informed me ahead of time of that law, so I could inform my guests.

Additionally,  I told the General Manager of the restaurant that we’d visited several clubs all around Vegas the night prior, INCLUDING clubs within their SAME property, and yet we had not run into this problem (the guest didn’t carry her ID that night either).  I also explained very nicely, how I didn’t see why they could not make an exception for one person who was obviously over 21 years of age.  He refused.

FAIL

*****************************

COSMOPOLITAN HOTEL & RESORT REVIEW

I’ll cut to the chase on this one:  They screwed up on our dinner reservation, which meant NO ROOFTOP COCKTAILS, NO DINNER AT STK. NOTHING.

FAIL

They had us down for FRIDAY night, when all along (and I had the email stream to prove it) we wanted Saturday night.  It was a mere typo of mine in a very early email, where I’d referred to our reservation as Saturday May 6th (it was the 7th – and from there on out, was never referred to again), that they took the DATE rather than the NIGHT and went with it – without checking with me.

So, all day Friday by the pool, fingers blazing a trail on my iPhone – lighting it up on fire, with the help of one FANTASTIC set of individuals named BRONSON, PASQUALE & JESSE, made arrangements for 12+ people  for dinner and party time on Saturday night – event though Vegas was crazy that night with a major FIGHT, as well as it being night after Kentucky Derby! OY.

*****************************

Who wins the prize for ABSOLUTE BEST of VEGAS though?

Drum roll… (I love drum rolls… ha)

THE ABSOLUTE BEST OF VEGAS PRIZE GOES TO:

NINE STEAKHOUSE

&

THE PALMS CASINO & RESORT!

The management team (specifically within the Nine Group, Las Vegas) was STELLAR – and INCOMPARABLE to anyone else in Las Vegas. They’d already put me in touch with someone to contact (prior to the “Great Cosmopolitan Screw Up”) so that our party of 15+ people would be admitted into any club we wanted at the hotel, but once they got wind of what happened with Cosmopolitan, they just FIXED it.  SUPERB.  UTTERLY FANTASTIC.

Here is the review of NINE STEAKHOUSE:

FOOD:

PHENOMINAL.  EVERY BITE WAS SUPERB. EVERYONE AT OUR TABLE AGREED.

STK WHO???

Wait & Restaurant Staff:

EXCEPTIONAL.  HEAD AND SHOULDERS WAYYYYY ABOVE THE REST. HANDS DOWN.  DO NOT TRUST ANYONE ELSE!

Management Service & Bedside Manner:

INCREDIBLE – FAR SURPASSING ALL EXPECTATIONS & NOW, OFFICIALLY MY HEROES.

Please be sure to BOOK A RESERVATION AT NINE STEAKHOUSE the next time you are in Vegas!  http://www.n9negroup.com/#/n9ne/main/

From there, we went to GHOST BAR (SUPER FUN, GREAT VIEWS OF THE CITY) & danced, played, had a blast.  Then we moved on to the Playboy Club and danced the night away.

To book a stay at the Palms Casino, click here.

*****************************

Here is a video of the highlights of our trip!  It’s mostly the highlights according to Ms. Cheevious – but hey – this is MY blog! HA HA HA HA!!!

If you were wondering – the other clients in attendance were Bogey & Bacall.  You’ll have to check my 2nd About Page to get a clue though!

If you can’t see this in your email (for you subscribers), here is the youtube link. It’s FUN: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ezXDVyGrJA

There you have it! Stay tuned for more fun, videos, life and… ENJOYING EVERY MOMENT.

Love you people!!!!  Mmmmmmphhhuuuhhhhhhh!!!

xoxo,

Ms. Cheevious
